Pro Musica Singers

Pro Musica Singers can claim to be integral to the cultural life of Brisbane, having continually flourished since the 1950s. Originating within the Music Department of The University of Queensland, where the focus was on sacred and secular a cappella Renaissance music, the choir has evolved to embrace other genres which reflect both choral versatility and musical currency.

The choir rehearses each Monday from 7.30-9.30pm at St Francis, Dornoch Terrace, Highgate Hill, under the direction of the multi-talented Jane Bernays. Jane has built on the foundations laid by previous directors, creating interesting and varied performance opportunities regularly for Pro Musica. This concerted direction and effective leadership have resulted in the development of members' vocal skills, the fostering of young talented soloists, collaboration with instrumental ensembles, and the expansion of the choir's dynamic repertoire.

We welcome new members (please see the “Contact us” and “Membership” pages for details).
